Several major health systems and insurers went out of network on July 1.
Contract disputes between insurers and health systems are down in 2025 compared to the second half of 2024. In the first quarter of 2025, 26 total disputes were recorded.
Four provider, payer splits in July:
1. UnitedHealthcare and Providence, R.I.-based Brown University Health mutually agreed to go out of network on July 1 for Medicare Advantage plans.
2. Charleston based-MUSC Health’s contract with Humana Medicare Advantage and Humana Medicaid expired on June 30.
3. Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based Broward Health and Florida Blue went out of network on July 1.
4. Primary care doctors with First Physicians Group, a multi-specialty medical group affiliated with Sarasota (Fla.) Memorial Health Care System, went out of network with all Blue Cross Blue Shield Medicare Advantage plans on July 1. The split does not affect specialty physicians or services provided at the health system’s inpatient and outpatient facilities.
